Groups and your own order

Categories come from the provider. Groups are yours: named lists of channels, films and series, from any category and any playlist.

On a phone or tablet:

  1. Press and hold a channel in Live (tap more to add several), then tap Add to… and Add to group. The + on a row, and Add to group in the sheet a channel’s name opens in the TV Guide, do the same for one channel.
  2. Pick a group, or type a name under New group name… and tap Create.

On a television, Windows, the Mac and LG or Samsung TVs:

  1. Hold OK on a channel, film or series (right-click on a computer) and choose Add to group at the top of the sheet.
  2. Pick a group or make a new one.

You can also start an empty group: Settings → My groups → New group on a television, or New group on a phone.

Groups appear under My groups on the television side menu, and in the category area of Live on the phone.

Films and series in a group on a television

Section titled “Films and series in a group on a television”

On a television, Windows, the Mac and LG and Samsung TVs, My Groups shows one group at a time and lets you pick the type: Channels, Movies, Series or All. With All, the group shows its channels first, as a list with the guide, and under them the posters of its films, then of its series, in one scroll.

  • Television, Windows, the Mac: Settings → My groups, OK on a group, then Open group, Rename, Reorder or Delete group. Deleting asks first; the channels stay in your playlist, only the group goes away.
  • Phone: the My groups list, opened with Manage next to your groups on Home. Tap the select button, tick groups and tap Delete groups, or drag ≡ to put them in order.

You can put these in your own order:

  • Channels inside a group, your favourites and your watchlist.
  • Channels inside a category, see Moving channels.
  • Categories, pinned to the top or moved down, see Categories.
  • Groups themselves.

On a phone, select items and drag the ≡ handle: Tap items to select · drag ≡ to reorder.

On a television the same thing is done with hold OK → Move (for a channel, Move in and the list’s name), then Up and Down, then OK to save. Hold Up or Down and the item keeps going, faster the longer you hold. The line at the bottom says so: ▲▼ move · OK save · Back cancel. Long favourites, watchlist and group lists can be rearranged this way too.

On Windows and the Mac you can drag with the mouse instead: press on a row, move it where you want it, and let go to save. Esc cancels. This works in Settings → Categories, Settings → My groups, Settings → Home, and on the channels of one of your groups. In TV Channels, Movies and Series the mouse does what the remote does: right-click a row for its options, choose Move, then the arrow keys and Enter.

To put all your groups in name order in one go:

WhereHow
Phone and tabletThe A–Z button at the top of My groups
Television, Windows, the MacSort A–Z next to New group in Settings → My groups
Account panelLibrary → My groups, Sort A–Z

The app asks first, Sort groups A–Z?. Every device gets the new order, and you can still move groups afterwards.

Inside a group on a phone, My order and A–Z above the list choose how its items are shown. A–Z only changes the view: your own order stays.

A group can hold channels from more than one playlist. It shows the members whose playlists are currently open, so ticking a second playlist in the switcher makes its members appear in the group they were already in.

Removing a playlist removes its channels from your groups and deletes any group that is left empty; the group itself survives as long as something is still in it.

Groups, their contents and their order follow your account, per profile, and the order is the same on every device and in the account panel, also when a device shows only some of your playlists or categories. The same goes for the order of Favourites and the Watchlist. Two devices can both edit them at the same time: a channel added on the phone and one added on the television both stay.

Favourites are their own thing, one flat list per profile, with their own row on the home screen and their own entry in the Live folders. Use a group when you want several named lists; use favourites when you want one.
